This happens when WhatsApp lacks the lock-screen and floating-window permissions ColorOS requires. Open Settings > Apps > Manage apps > WhatsApp > and enable "Display over other apps" / "Display pop-up windows while running in the background", plus "Display on lock screen". Then inside WhatsApp go to Settings > Notifications and confirm Call notifications are on. WhatsApp notifications don't appear on the Always-On Display of my Find X6 Pro, can I enable them?
ColorOS Always-On Display only shows new-message indicators when notification display is enabled for it. Go to Settings > Personalizations > Always-On Display and turn on the notification option, then confirm WhatsApp notifications are allowed under Settings > Notification & status bar > Manage notifications > WhatsApp. Note that AOD only shows a generic app icon, not message previews, so for full alerts rely on the lock screen instead. Choose how to download

Launch WhatsApp from your home screen or app drawer and accept the Terms of Service to start setup.

Verify your phone number
Enter your phone number. If your Oppo Find X6 uses dual SIM, pick the line you want WhatsApp tied to, then enter the 6-digit code it sends by SMS — it usually fills in automatically.

Restore chats and finish setup
Restore your chat history from Google Drive (use the same Google account), add your name and photo, and tap Allow for notifications so messages and calls arrive reliably.
